I'd like to Cancel My Subscription

He wants it out of his life
Block it from his careful mind
He sees things in a new light
He knows that he's had enough...

The words that damage his soul
Create rust from his heart of gold
But now this game's getting old
Fin'ly he backs out cause he's done...

He doesn't want these daily reminders
That tell him he's nothing but a failure
He's past the point of just moving on
He wants the thoughts vanished, wants them gone

He didn't sign up for this
He didn't volunteer
No one ever asked him
If he liked to cry painful tears

The creator keeps spamming his thoughts
Tying his stomach up in knots
"Welcome to the game that I'm play'n
"Yours Truly, Satan"

It's hurting him every single day
It's like the same song stuck on replay
It pulls at his heart in every way
And he wonders if he'll ever be enough...

For love
The one
Christ's blood
For God...

Now he found a love that he can't ignore
For years it's been knocking at his door
It's from his Father, from his Lord
He discovered something that was above...

The lies
The hate
He cried
Chose fate—
In the Savior's hands
No empty promises, and...

He's tired of the deception
Of the enemy's contraptions
When Satan sends a renewal invitation
He says "I'd like to cancel my subscription"

The inspiration behind this poem came from the idea that God only gives us good thoughts, and we, as humans, tend to get a pretty large amount of negative thoughts in our lives. Those can only come from Satan. Like described in the poem, it's seriously like a subscription service that we didn't voluntarily sign up for, but yet Satan just keeps sending those thoughts in our direction.

He'll use anything to get at you. He'll remind you of something hurtful that makes your heart break into pieces all over again. Does God want you to feel that? No, of course not. It's like a never ending subscription that the enemy sends you, forces it upon you, and kind of makes you accept it as truth when it's not.

You can push away the lies that Satan gives you and lean on God's truth. Always. I mean, Jesus already paid the price, why not receive? God's subscriptions—His words—are the best. ;)
