Don't Forget Who Created You
There's so many lies and deceptions in the world concerning how people should be, and people think they have to obey the "rules." A big rule that many think they must follow is that you must look a certain way to be accepted or attractive. It's so fake, and that voice in the world just gets louder and louder every day. The unrealistic standards that are continued to be pushed are extremely unhealthy, and the perspective that people don't usually have is not assuming that it's real.
While there are people who do look great and fantastic without any "help" from outside sources aside from their natural looks, many don't see themselves this way. They think there's things that need "fixing." But why do people look at the—usually—photo-shopped images and compare themselves, thinking that they need to be to that standard? I mean, it's a computer that they're trying to be at the same level as, if you think about it.
Why do I put so many things in quotations in this post? Because those words aren't relevant to this type of situation. There are no set rules, people don't need help in this way, and there is no fixing to be done. God created people the way they are and He loves them so very much, and they want to take the Artist's brush away and use it to apply substances to cover up themselves?
I, for one, have never thought makeup was necessary. Something that my mom used to ask me all the time was "Why are you so pretty?" (or nice or smart, something like that) and I always said "Because Jesus made me that way," which was the answer she had told me once before and I fully believed it. God did make me this way, and there's no reason to hide it.
Would you rather get compliments by hiding behind something or get compliments by being who you are? While I may sound like I'm very against makeup, I'm not. If you don't use it in a way as something to lean on, depend on, something you need, or hide behind, and it enhances your natural looks instead of hiding them, if it's what you like, then go for it. I don't think it's necessary, but I do think it can enhance the beauty that God has given you.
While it may sound cliche—and it is—that your true beauty comes from within, it's true, and it's how God made you on the outside, and people often only say one or the other, even though they do go hand in hand. But people don't really see it that way when it comes to themselves, and that's what God is for.
What I've noticed is that your true beauty from inside of you will shine to the outside. It's a much bolder statement than nailing the perfect makeup look. Seriously. And it looks a lot prettier than any makeup ever could.
Don't forget who created you.
