"On That Day"

Recently, I wrote a song about one of the most important days in my life so far. Obviously, the Bridge and Chorus aren't actually true yet, but the song is coming from a perspective of my future self. It was the day in August, 2016, that God changed my life through a novel. You'll see for yourself. . .

           On That Day
12-23-2017

Verse 1
A warm August day
Sitting in my room
Turning page after page
Summer is such a good book

Then my heart stops
On page three-thirty-seven
Tears flooded my eyes
As her baby went to heaven

Pre-Chorus
I couldn’t imagine myself in her shoes
My family was something I could never lose

Chorus
On that day
I fell in love
With my children
And my future husband

On that day
I prayed so hard
And from that moment on
I’ve kept them in my heart

That was the day
Everything changed . . .

Verse 2
Every single day
From that point in time
I’ve thought about the man
That would step into my life

And my dreams changed
From a Broadway star
To being a wife
And a mother

Pre-Chorus
God promised me my dreams would come true
They wouldn’t be in my mind, they’d be my family that I could cling onto

Chorus
On that day
I fell in love
With my children
And my future husband

On that day
I prayed so hard
And from that moment on
I’ve kept them in my heart

Bridge
That was the day . . .

I fell madly in love
Much deeper than I thought
Was ever possible
But nothing’s impossible with God . . .

Yes, and now today . . .

I’m the luckiest girl
It’s my anniversary
And I found out
In 9 months we’ll bring our second baby into the world . . .

Chorus
And today
I fell in love
With my children
And my husband

And today
I prayed so hard
And from that moment on
I’ve kept them in my heart

That was the day
My heart changed . . .
