New Best Friends

Have you ever thought about the idea of best friends? When people are younger, they most certainly do, whether it be one friend, a few, or a handful . . . or even an imaginary best friend, but what about as they get older? You're going to have to say goodbye to people, and they'll come and go, with maybe a few sticking with you along the way.

There's two sides I'm going to be talking about, two different best friends you could make today, or become stronger friends with.

1. Jesus.

Jesus has been asking for you to love Him back for the longest time. For forever, really. He is the greatest best friend any person could have. He will listen to you, He'll talk to you, He'll hold you, comfort you, and never stop loving you, even when you do mess up. He knows you better than you'll ever know your own self.

He will never leave you. When you do what seems unforgivable, when you feel like all you are is unlovable, when you feel unnoticed, when you feel unworthy, when everything falls apart . . . He will forgive you, He will love you, He notices, you are worthy, and He'll pick you up . . . every single time without fail.

Even if you are a Christian, not all Christians become best friends with Jesus. It doesn't have to be such a distant, serious relationship where you're always just trying to obey. I mean, yes, please do obey Him, but it doesn't have to be just this master and servant relationship (even though you are serving Him), you can be best friends with Him.

2. You.

We're all too hard on ourselves. It happens. But I think we all need to be more of a friend to ourselves. The only person you'll ever truly get to know the most is you, so why not become friends with yourself and treat yourself like you deserve?

With friends, you can find yourself practically bending-over-backwards to help them out, or being as kind as possible to them, but why do we end up giving up on ourselves and not others? Become good friends with yourself. Give yourself a break.

Love yourself. Love you. Love who God created you to be.

Grow confident that you have Jesus by your side and the fact that you're walking in faith. Grow strong in Him and He will make you stronger.
