Traditionalist

The term "traditionalist" is defined by two meanings: "an advocate of maintaining tradition, especially so as to resist change," and "advocating the upholding or maintenance of tradition" (Dictionary.com). The stereotype is for people to link this word with stubbornness, a hard heart, and a misunderstanding of today's modern society in that given field.

It's kind of sad to think about the fact that people almost disapprove if someone has traditional values.  Yes, there may be "options," but it's most certainly not wrong for someone to desire that lifestyle. Today, being independent and going all out for yourself is looked upon with admiration.

With romantic relationships, especially, a lot of women, today, are pushing for the visual of independence, strength, etc., which has the representation of self-empowerment and greatness. A lot of people are saying that a woman shouldn't wait around for a man, and that going out and getting what you want is what you should be doing. Yes, and no.

As a Christian, we should be dependant on God. He has a plan for each one of us, and they can look very different. That's important to recognize and draw attention to. Someone may be very interested in a certain hobby and that may not be your thing, but that doesn't make them "lower" on the platform of humanity.

I, personally, want to be a stay-at-home mom, I want to wait for a spouse—while depending on God—and I want to do things the "traditional" way. It's an option that I desire. My application of being a traditionalist in the Christian world applies to many areas of my life where I try to be like Jesus, including how I speak, having a label as "too nice" (which has never worked against me), and my reputation being "funny and nice"—literally the two words almost everyone uses to describe me.

When I have a family, there are a lot of values, morals, and principles that I will be teaching my children, because they're important. Praying is important, language is important, love is important . . . God is important.

I'm not the type of person who is against electronics or anything of the sort. I greatly welcome new advances in today's world in most cases, but I have core values that will stay the same.

I'm not the type of person who will do the "daring" things, and people don't ask me to do things as such because they know I won't—I'm either "too nice" or they just know I won't. It's also important not to surround yourself with people who could influence you in a negative way and that you feel too pressured or not confident enough to stay true to who you are at all times.

Always be sure to know who you are and not waiver from that person that God created you to be. Who really cares if you're a little different compared to everyone else? You won't break the rules? Then people can trust you and depend on you more because you don't decide to walk on the line of being harmful. If you find God, then you can find your true self.
