Nostalgia
She made it home, and while she tidied up, she put her earbuds in. She danced as she dusted the shelves of memories, like a wand lifting up the pixie dust as it fluttered in the air. She did this when she was younger, too, and didn't know how much easier she had it then. So it takes her back, once again, re-living the past. She never changed too much, only grew, and that's how the memories last.
She likes the simplicity of life. Just be happy and enjoy the little things, even if it gets more complicated. She likes to make things aesthetically pleasing, because... why not? She figures if you're going to buy something, why not buy the prettier version or color?
She opens the blinds, slides open the glass door, and closes the mesh screen door. Sun shining, fresh air, birds singing, and everything was right again. She wishes she could stay in this moment forever.
As the sun started to set, she was brought back into reality. The looming countdown of going to sleep, only to be woken up in the morning to an alarm to get up for work. Maybe this was why she dreaded sleep... She truly gets to live in the present and be her happiest between getting home from work and going to sleep. So, sleep ended all of that.

It's interesting how certain things can bring us back to a different time in our lives. Music, smells, phrases, tastes, etc. are all are things that can trigger memories. Why does the brain recall so many past memories? That's what it's designed to do, but I feel like it also slightly prevents us from living in the moment. Nostalgia is such an interesting thing, as well as deja vu, and I'm curious as to why God linked our brains to be that way. I love how certain environments or songs can transport you to a different time. There are certain songs that came out while I was in college, and I can't help but think about when I would walk to classes on a sunny day while listening to these songs.
What things do you find nostalgic?
