Attacked

Surrounded by words with the ability to destroy
Suffocated by toxicity from the dangerous words
Tear-stained cheeks and droplets on clothes
Hopelessness takes over the love that's in the heart

She no longer knows the meaning of the word joy
When people think it's funny to drown her in hurt
She's trying to grow, but still no one knows
They keep kicking her back to the very start

She walks away as her eyes fill with tears
No one can know of the new-building fear
What if they see? What if they hear?
It feels like she slowly starts to disappear

She has big dreams, but now she feels so small
They doubt, they joke, so maybe she was wrong
Will she ever get the love she deserves?
She doesn't know, but she has no hope for words

She's fighting a battle—a losing battle
She's all on her own against the haters
She takes strength in God, but the people don't believe
That God is good enough, and she wishes she could leave

To go off to a place where she could be alone
Alone with God, He's the source of hope
He makes her feel strong, loved, and worthy
Not like the people who won't stop hurting

The toxic fumes start to disappear
As God breathes new life into the air
He hugs her tightly and fills her with peace
She wishes everyone else could see

See the kindness
That's in her heart displayed for the world
She doesn't hide it
She's not a scared little girl

She's a strong woman that God adores
A woman of faith, love, kindness, and more
He's helping her grow, even though no one knows
That she's wise and strong, and smart, but that's how it goes

That's just the way of the world
That's how the story tends to go
She's hurt, pushed down, but gets back up
She's attacked but that'll only show more of God's love

I decided to write about this topic because I think we all tend to feel somewhat this way at times—attacked. We've all been pushed down and pushed around, but we can always find hope and strength in God. To be honest, I've never written a poem and I didn't even know that it'd turn out to be one.

This feeling can come from the people around us, or even straight from Satan, himself. I know that it can be hard, but God's always there and He really is the best source of comfort. Even though we don't always think of Him first, it's best to always find our way back to Him (and try to work on going to Him first).

Anyway, this is a poem I wrote that I thought would be interesting to share with you. Brokenness doesn't have to be an option when you're attacked. You don't have to shatter and break. Let God take care of it and He'll fiercely fight for you. If He could create the world, then He could fix what's going on. Don't let it drag you down, because you are . . . incredible in His eyes, even if others can't see it.
